Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Mordecai Briemberg Apr. 14, 2008
Last summer media activists in Vancouver ran a mock version of CanWest Global organ, The Vancouver Sun. The phony front page was secreted into legitimate mail boxes around the city, and slipped into newstands stacks and onto public meeting info. tables. It's the second hijacking of the Sun's masthead, a previous crew pulling off the stunt in 2002 without consequence, but this time around CanWest is determined to see this matter in court. The national media Goliath filed suits against a group it believes responsible for the faux edition, (and for good measure, they filed too against the small printing house allegedly used to run off the offending copies). Chiefly named is long-time Vancouver peace and justice activist, radio producer, author, and critic of Israeli policy in Palestine and the Middle East, Mordecai Briemberg. Mordecai Briemberg and getting serious about free speech in Canada in the second half. And; Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria in the coming week. But first, Howard Zinn and what the classroom fails to teach you about American Empire.
