We've arrived at one of those moments when we'd be wise to just hit the "pause" button, stop, sit in a quiet place and imagine something that could happen, actually happening.

(After all, had more people done just that before we invaded Iraq, a whole lot people would still be alive and the nation would be a trillion bucks richer right now. But we didn't, and here we are.)

Now we have another chance to image something before it happens.

This time that "something" is Vice President Hillary R. Clinton.

Having failed to bag the number one spot on the ticket, Hillary and Bill and their surrogates are now furiously working the back channels trying to get a lock on the second spot.

So, what if Obama is successfully hounded into tapping Hillary Clinton as his No. 2? What would life be like for President Obama — and the rest of us — over the next four years?

Let's stop, look both ways and imagine this:

Scene: VP Hillary Clinton and husband Bill Clinton move into the Veep residence, the Naval Observatory. The couple will be there for the next four years — Hillary working 16-hour days, leaving Bill home alone. As Veep Hillary will also spend a lot of time on the road, leaving Bill home alone for days on end. I'm not suggesting he would do anything improper, I'm just asking you imagine Bill, home, alone for days at time.

Sure he's been pretty much home alone since this political couple left the White House in 2001. But he's been a private citizen free to indulge in the kind of things private citizens are free to indulge in. As the husband of the Vice President of the United States of America Bill will be back in the fishbowl. The last time he was in that fishbowl he hooked up with a sucker fish and... well, we all know the rest of that story.
“Authentic treachery is found when we abandon ourselves, becoming deaf to the whispers of our spirits and blind to the powerful potential therein” ( Joaquin Mariel Espinosa)

Scene: VP Hillary Clinton will spend much of her time in the Veep's office a stone's throw form the White House in the (dark and stuffy and, frankly depressing) old Executive Office Building. Out her office window she'll have a nice view of the front door leading to the Oval Office. From her vantage she would have to watch a daily procession of dignitaries and other national and international movers and shakers ushered through that door by the Marine Corp doormen for an audience with President Barack Obama.

And there she'd sit, as President Obama makes decisions he will likely only share with her after he's made them. And once made VP Hillary Clinton would be expected to publicly embrace and promote President Obama's policies — as though they were her own — only they won't be. And, should those policies prove beneficial to the nation, Obama would get the credit, not Hillary. How do you imagine that will go down? With everything we now know about Hillary and Bill Clinton, imagine that for moment. (It will only take a moment.)

“There is no act of treachery or meanness of which a political party is not capable; for in politics there is no honor.” ( Benjamin Disraeli )

Scene: It's evening. Bill and Hillary are gathered for a late dinner at the Veep's residence with long-time allies, like James Carville, Lanny Davis, Terry McAuliffe, and other familiar suspects. The topic of discussion: how to position Hillary for the next election, should Obama's approval ratings sink during his first term. This would require the risky but unavoidable tactic of leaking stories hinting that Hillary had opposed Obama policies that later became unpopular — stories she would, of course, refuse to comment on or would indicate are not "entirely accurate."

“Destiny is a good thing to accept when it's going your way. When it isn't, don't call it destiny; call it injustice, treachery, or simple bad luck.” (Joseph Heller)

Scene: Same place, same time of day, different meeting to hash out a different problem. This time the group discusses what Hillary can do to "shine on her own," outside the shadow of President Obama. The goal would be to identify positions and policies Hillary could use to attract the media attention , independent of Obama. Meetings she could hold with news-makers, world leaders, hints of policies she'd like to address outside the Obama administration's stated policy goals. All designed to portray Hillary Clinton as a hands-on Veep and get her on the nightly news, even if that means upstaging Obama.

Such tactics would leave Obama with a helluva dilemma. Should he simply allow his Veep to freelance, or should he grab Hillary by the nape of the neck and drag her off to the executive woodshed?

If he allows Hillary to freelancing the resulting news coverage would weaken the Obama presidency. After all, if he can't face down his own Veep, how can he face down America's enemies? That would be the question sweeping the news if he let's just lets Hillary be Hillary.

On the other hand if he does rein Hillary — and you gotta know the media would find out about it — then the real "fun"would begin. Bill would be furious. (Red-face furious) He would start talking to reporters "on background." Bill would again allege that Obama had won by "running a sexist campaign" and was now continuing that practice by "muzzling the first female Vice President of the United States of America."

Even if Obama laid down the law, telling Hillary she had to toe the administration line henceforth, what do you think would really happen? Imagine Hillary R. Clinton spending the next four years as an obedient junior partner, while Obama harvests all the attention.

Try to imagine that. Oh hell, go ahead, just try. I dare you.

“The zeal which begins with hypocrisy must conclude in treachery; at first it deceives, at last it betrays” ( Francis Bacon)

Hillary and Bill dismiss such concerns and criticism as further proof that Hillary Clinton has been a victim of sexism. Never mind that she beat the pants off a guy to win her Senate seat, or that she has been the first woman to come within a hair's breath of the presidency itself. Hillary's victories are only confirmation she is worthy as the he and she assume she is. Only when she loses does sexism become the prime suspect. If she had become President, would she whine that world leaders and members of Congress who oppose her policies are sexist too? The "Great Sexists-wing Conspiracy?"

I don't like Hillary Clinton, okay. But it's not because she's a woman. It's because she's Hillary Clinton — the very same Hillary Clinton I came know over the past 16 action-packed years.

So there you have it. As you hear the talking heads twirling in the seats over the possibility of a Obama/Clinton ticket, stop, look both ways, and try to imagine what that would mean as a daily, four-year, reality.

Then let's think again. Because age and treachery really can overwhelm youth and skill.

DON'T BE DUPED AGAIN AMERICA !!!

IT'S ABOUT ELECTABILITY !!!

Large numbers of BUSH_McCain Republicans have been voting for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses from early on with the backing and help of the medical and insurance industry. Under the direction of the George Bush, and Karl Rove vote fraud, and vote manipulation machine. Because they feel Barack Obama would be a weaker opponent against John McCain. And they want to stop Hillary Clinton from fixing the HUGE! American, and Global mess they have created. shocking!!! isn't it. Just gotta love those good old draft dodging, silver spoon Texas boys. Not! :-(

You see, the medical and insurance industry mostly support the republicans with the money they ripped off from you. And they don't want you to have quality, affordable universal health care. They want to be able to continue to rip you off, and kill you and your children by continuing to deny you life saving medical care that you have already paid for. So they can continue to make more immoral profits for them-selves off of you, and your children's suffering.

With Hillary Clinton you are almost 100% certain to get quality affordable universal health care for everyone very soon. And you are also certain to see major improvements in the economy for everyone.

The American people face even worse catastrophes ahead than the ones you are living through now. It will take all of the skills, and experience of Hillary Clinton to pull the American people out of this mess we are in. Fortunately fixing up, and cleaning up others incompetence, immoral degeneracy, and mess is what the Clinton's do very well.

Hillary Clinton has actually won by much larger margins than the vote totals showed. And lost by much smaller vote margins than the vote totals showed. Her delegate count is actually much higher than it shows. And higher than Obama's. She also leads in the electoral college numbers that you must win to become President in the November national election. HILLARY CLINTON IS ALREADY THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE!

Just look at Oregon for example. Obama won Oregon by about 70,000 votes. But approximately 79,000 Bush republicans switched party's back in January to vote for Obama in the democratic primary. They are not going to vote for, or support any Democrat in November. Are you DEMOCRATS going to put up with that. Are you that stupid, and weak. The Bush republicans think you are that stupid, and weak.

As much as 30% of Obama's primary, and caucus votes are Republicans trying to choose the weakest democratic candidate for McCain to run against. These Republicans have been gaming the caucuses, and open primaries where it is easier to vote cheat. This is why Obama has not been able to win the BIG! states primaries. Even with Republican vote cheating help. Except North Carolina where 35% of the population is African American, and approximately 90% of them block voted for him. African Americans are only approximately 17% of the general population.

Hillary Clinton has been OUT MANNED! and OUT SPENT! 4 and 5 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton. This is even more phenomenal when you consider she has been also fighting against the George Bush, Karl Rove vote fraud machine in the DEMOCRATIC primaries, and caucuses. Hillary Clinton is STUNNING!.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. That is crystal clear now. Because all of the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate. And the demographics, and experience are completely against him. All of this vote fraud and Bush republican manipulation has made Obama falsely look like a much stronger candidate than he really is.

You will have another McGovern catastrophe where George McGovern lost 49 of 50 states. And was the reason the super-delegates were created to keep that from happening again. Don't let that happen to the party and America again super-delegates. You have the power to prevent it. The only important question now is who can best win in November. And the answer is HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON. That fact is also now crystal clear.

And YOUNG PEOPLE. DON'T BE DUPED! Think about it. You have the most to lose. As do African Americans. Support Hillary Clinton. She will do her best for all of you. And she will know how to best get it done on day one.

The democratic party needs to fix this outrage. Everyone needs to throw all your support to Hillary Clinton NOW! So you can end this outrage against YOU the voter, and against democracy.

The democratic party, and the super-delegates have a decision to make. Are the democrats, and the democratic party going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee to fight for the American people. Or are the republicans going to choose the DEMOCRATIC party nominee through vote fraud, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC party primaries, and caucuses.

Fortunately the Clinton's have been able to hold on against this fraudulent outrage with those repeated dramatic, and heroic comebacks of Hillary Clintons. Only the ClintonҒs are that resourceful, and strong. Hillary Clinton is your NOMINEE. They are the best I have ever seen. Probably the best there has ever been. :-)

This is not a gameӔ (Hillary Clinton)

Sincerely

jacksmith... Working Class :-)

Lydia in MInneapolis: LIMBAUGH FOR HILLARY
jACKSMITH NEDS TO GET A rality check: RUSH LIMBAUGH's "Operation Chaos" urged his listners(Reublicans all) TO VOTE FOR HILLARY in Ohio,Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Hillary Clinton would ENERGIZE THE REPUBLICAN BASE--who isn't sure about McCain, but, would turn out in droves to oppse the Clintons.

I can only urge working class white voters to REMEMBER THE POLICIES OF THE CLINTON YEARS and ask yourselves"Did Bill and HIllary Clinton help (or HURT) working class people?"
NAFTA "free trade" shipping your jobs out of the country/
Dismantling FDR's New Deal social safety net--throwing milions of poor women into the labor market--further lowering wages (and making sure you eat what ever shit your boss dishes out since there's no safety net to catch you if you're laid off for union-orgazaitng).

The Clintons DID NOTHING to strengthen labor unions--whch is our only hope to level the palying field with the Corproations.
In fact, Bill & HIllary LOVE the Corproations and ahve been steadily working through the Democratic Leadership Committee to REmake the Democrats as the OTHER [party for them.

Hillary as some sort of "working class hero" is a JOKE ON THE WORKING CLASS.
Don't let rqaism divide & conquer you yet again.
Obama is a "wild card" in that we don't know jsut how far he;ll go in a progressive direciton. That depneds on WE THE PEOPLE buidling stonger & broader movements for economic justice and to end the wars of emire.
But, we DO know where HIllary Clinton standsd: for a government that is OF the Corproations, BY the Corporatins and FOR the Corproations.

Don't get folled again,JackLthe Clitnons had 8 YEARS ALREADY--and THREE MILLION OF YOUR JOBS HAVE BEEN SHI8PPED OFF in the last decade due to Clinton policies.

lin: No, no, no to Hillary
Hillary is treacherous, Bill is lecherous, and Obama will not be safe with either and both of them anywhere near the WH. Their track record is crystal clear and like in a crystal ball we can see Obama's physical and politcal life endangered in the company of the Clinton Macbeths. Hillary has already said and played to the demons in our nation's past and present (recall her recalling of June for Bobby Kennedy's assassination). Obama's campaign has been appealing to our better angels. The Clintons as co-veeps will make a hell of the Obama WH.

Ramon Jun Quitales, 11: Consultant
Someone, somewhere and somehow are trying to get an African-American to be the next president of the big USA to show to the world that in the USA there's no more racial discrimination by electing a black president. The problem is Barack Obama as president will not be in total control of the presidency but those elitists, advisers and the so called tycoons who supports and made trillions out of the US wars. How come in this election campaign not a single candidates discussed the solution of housing problems, veterans aid, and more seriously the growing debt of the US government. Why no one ever discuss the issue of monetary reform that what the US needed now? Frankly speaking all of the US Presidents since independence are just a pawns of the ruling elites! Obama, Clinton or McCain they are just politicians of the same feathers who flock together, nothing more, nothing less!
