I’ve always said that three P’s will make the Democratic Party nervous as the sheep of Wellington: patriarchy, Palestine, and prison. These are the issues they don’t want to acknowledge because their complicity on all counts is so intractibly deep.
The Jena 6 uprising is the reaction of one of the most consistent and abused core consitutencies of the Democratic Party — African America, which has been held hostage by the 2-Party 2-Step for decades, and kept in line by a lengthening list of Black gatekeepers who act as colonial surrogates.
Prison is the issue that comes to the surface with the Jena 6 focus on the aptly named US criminal justice system. We have the highest prison population (more than 2 million) on earth, even exceeding that of China (1.5 million) which is one in 800 people. Ours is one in 150. Black and brown folk are the VAST majority of that population, and the conditions in many of these lockups are utterly inhuman.
Here is a recent piece from the LA Times…
‘Jena Six’ case puts candidates on the spot
Obama and Clinton could court black support by joining in protests, but such action could be a political liability down the road. So far, they’re keeping their distances.

WASHINGTON — In their quest for black voters, Democratic presidential front-runners Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama raced to Selma, Ala., six months ago to commemorate a historic civil rights march. Each used tightly scripted church sermons to declare their personal links to the freedom fighters of the 1960s.
But Thursday, as thousands poured into a small Louisiana town to protest the case of six black youths that has emerged as a cause celebre for the modern-day civil… FULL

Jena 6 It's a shame that today in the world we are still paying for events that have occured over 140 years ago. Why is it that anytime a white person is involved with a black person with a disagreement or a view, the white person is always racist. Yet, we let blacks act racist, talk racist, and be racist and all we can do is sit there and not say a word in fear of being racist. I am very ashamed that we as white people still coddle blacks and make them the defenseless beings that we have. Thank God the Jews never asked for the same coddling for all of there hardships. Egyptian enslavement, racial cleansing, and always being the scapegoat for all the worlds problems. We would owe them the world by now. I guess they are just stronger as a race of people that can move on through any rough times. I wish the blacks could learn from the Jews. The link below is to some facts regarding yours post on your site. Fell free to email back. |

to the guest who had a view on jena 6 You got to be kidding me. You are the biggest racist out here today learn from the jews. They can learn from us they lost 2 to 4 million we lost 200 million. Try to move on how can we with all theese good old boy rules and mentality. In case you didn't know racial profiling is at an all time high in the south. Now should we play the race card so for any and everything no. You have completely amazed me with your point of view. If you was a juror on the jena case i know they gone get convicted. You need to go and read the bible and learn what love is cause even though your ignorant i love you another thing white people have been holding black folks back for so long they had to create laws to catch us up because if left up to the people, {i mean the real people} wouldn't know change move to south you and open your eyes i pray god open your eyes and your heart today |

Jena 6 - Response Mr. Guest, you need to take a look around you and see how many "RACIST" things are happening. This issue is racially motivated. You can hide your head in the sand by diverting this to the Jews. Look at the unemployment, joblessness, and other things that have lessened the quality of life for black people. Jews have been "PAID" for the Holocaust. I guess you forgot about that. I don't think white people owe black people anything, but I do think some white people are totally oblivious to the "FACT" that there are racist things "STILL" going on in this country 140 years post slavery. Black people don't need you to coddle them, but we do need mutual respect and some level of realism. |

you all need to get real How can we use racism like it's just another word i don't know if its About Racism but i do believe it was very poor use of the justice system !! as for racism you name one person in this world that is not raciest in one way or another i will never say this Attack was justified 6 on 1 is Very cowardly if someone hangs something in a tree they should be reported to the police that is a Hate crime but to let 6 teen boys beat a fellow student is never ok and to look at this Attack as non racial by the 6 is nonsense but to charge them as adults is Outrageous |

... You only have to look as far as the crowds of people who were protesting this obviously race based judicial decision. Hundreds and hundreds of dark skinned people protesting while one or two light skinned faces showed up in the crowd. This was enough to prove to me that racism is alive and well in the U.S. |

... We have here two "Ministers" Jesse Jackson used over $500,000 of tax free charity monies to pay off his mistress ... and yet his Rainbow coalition is allowed to continue with it's tax free status. Sharpton is guilty of fraud and extortion in the Tawana Brawley case, but our justice declined to prosecute, for fear of the racists, biased blacks would riot. Sharpton lost a civil suit for malixcious slander in excess of $1,000,000 .... but does this shake the black community to follow them? Oh no! They are too happy to exploit white on black racism ... real or imagined ... it makes no difference. |

The Big Picture First I would like to say that I am completely against any racial act towards another. Now, I've listened to alot of people and read alot of articles about the Jena 6 story. What most people don't seem get is the Big Picture! That Violence is not the answer. We as people need to teach our children that violence is not the answer. Ive been called racial names many times and I have never once used violence as my response. That Boy should not have been tried as an adult and the sentence was too harsh and I'm glad it was overturned. However them boys shouldn't have done what they did! 6 on 1? If it were 6 white kids and 1 black we would have called that a lynching! Blakc leaders need to make sure those boys get a fair trial and at the same time condemn their actions towards that white kid. They should send the message that racial acts will not go unanswered but it will not be answered with violence unless absolutely nessecary and in this case being called an "N" word was not even close to nessecary! |
