How hot can it be in Frederick, Colorado (20 miles north of Denver)
at 4:30 AM? And isn’t “sweating profusely” part of the desired jogging
experience? Whipkey’s “sweat panic” defense is as nonsensical as
Allen’s “black panic” defense.
And then there’s Glenn Murphy Jr. After a grueling six-month campaign,
the 33-year-old was elected chairman of the Young Republican National
Foundation on July 7, 2007. “I will essentially be the mouthpiece and
effective leader for tens of thousands of Young Republicans 18 to 40
across the country,” he proudly boasted.
But in early August, Murphy abruptly resigned.
Why?
Murphy had been accused of what is called in Indiana “criminal deviate
conduct,” a class B felony, after attempting to have sex with a
sleeping man July 29.
According to a police report from Clark County, Ind., the man, his
sister, and Murphy had been drinking at a Young Republican party the
previous night. The revelers wound up at the sister’s home, where
Murphy got into a top bunk bed and the victim took the bottom bunk.
Sometime that morning the victim awoke to find Murphy, in his words,
“holding my dick with one hand and sucking my dick with his mouth,”
police records state. The man kicked Murphy off and left the house. …
Murphy’s excuse was as preposterous as Rep. Allen’s and Father
Whipkey’s: “Later that day, Murphy called the man to explain that he
had found himself lying on the floor beside the man’s bunk. The man,
Murphy said, had fondled Murphy’s hair in his sleep, so Murphy took
this gesture as a green light for further intimacy. Unconvinced by this
alibi and unmoved by Murphy’s pleadings, the man filed a complaint.”
And with good reason:
This was apparently not the first time Murphy had been unable to
control his attraction to unconscious men. Another Clark County police
report described an incident in 1998 in which Murphy crawled under the
covers with a sleeping acquaintance “and was committing the act of oral
sex when [the victim] awoke.” The victim’s girlfriend, who was in the
same room at the time, heard her friend yell and observed Murphy
extracting himself from the bedclothes and leaving the room.
And speaking of leaving the room (and reality)…
Church Cancels Funeral After Discovering Decorated Vet Was Gay
August 10, 2007
(Dallas, Texas) A mega-church in Arlington, Texas … cancelled at the
last minute a funeral service for a Navy veteran who died while
awaiting a heart transplant after learning he was gay.
Cecil Sinclair died on Monday. He was 46.
A native of Fort Worth, Sinclair was a Navy veteran who served in Desert Storm helping rescuers find downed pilots.
“One News Now” is the propaganda organ of Don Wildmon’s American Family
Association. AFA bills itself as “America’s Largest Pro-Family Action
Site” despite the fact that they do everything they can to demean,
denigrate and hurt gay and lesbian families. Their August 15, 2007
report
bore the headline “Texas church refuses to host memorial service that
would have glorified homosexuality.” The only thing “glorified” by the
decision of the High Point Church was self-righteous hypocrisy.
In a statement read to the High Point congregation on Sunday, [Pastor
Gary] Simons stated his belief that the church acted properly and
according to God’s Word in holding firm to its convictions concerning
homosexuality.
“It’s our desire to always demonstrate the love of Christ to all people
in both word and deed,” says the statement. “We would hope that the
Sinclair family and the homosexual community would see our love for
them through the many acts of kindness and outreach that we have
extended to them. We realize that they might not agree with our
convictions, but we hope that they would respect them.”
“God’s Word.” Would High Point Church refuse the funeral of someone who
wore clothing made of two different threads? Or someone who had not
been a virgin bride? Or someone who divorced for reasons other than
adultery? Those acts and their perpetrators are also condemned by
“God’s Word” as recorded in the Bible.
Since Jesus said
absolutely nothing about homosexuality, how does denying Mr. Sinclair’s funeral “demonstrate the love of Christ”?
“We would hope that … the homosexual community would see our love for
them through the many acts of kindness and outreach that we have
extended to them.” What “acts of kindness”? Condemning them? Does
“outreach” mean telling gays they can learn to
repress and deny the nature God gave them?
“We realize that they might not agree with our convictions, but we hope
that they would respect them.” How can anyone respect Bob Allen, Robert
Whipkey, Glenn Murphy, Jr., or a church like Gary Simon’s High Point
when they preach one thing but practice another?
Given that the
rabidly anti-gay Don Wildmon and his
theofascist
American Family Association have been trying to hurt the Ford Motor
Company because the carmaker has the audacity to treat its gay and
lesbian employees
equally and advertise in gay publications, it’s not surprising that they’ve launched a
campaign to support Simon’s “Low” Point Church.
What’s that old expression?
“Bigots of a feather flock together?”
