As I saw it this is what happened: September anniversary; 'Hey look there are serious questions, why doesn't someone at least speak up?' Reply; 'We're not stupid. We prefer to play the stupid game this way.' (This was in Australia.) Then there was the November elections. Then everyone was talking about global warming, and little else. (Again in Australia, the cricket hadn't got underway.) So what's up? Among other considerations when things get tough, the little thought police, little in years and experience, will be encouraged to come around and give me a hard time over nothing for I have little. When I was small the poor were encouraged, and badgered, to do penance for the saving of their souls, and the glory of God (contributions to the building fund) while the rich, we were assured, were quite unhappy. Then with post war affluence the bottom fell out of serious religion. We may not have become rich but we got education in the hope of becoming rich. Well global warming is to become the new religion, the new mass distraction, even if there is nothing effectively that can be done about it. Oh!
