For your further information Michael L. Connell (Mike Connell, mentioned above) died on Dec. 19th, 2008,
when the single engine plane he was piloting, crashed 3 miles short of the Akron-Canton Ohio Airport.
As Mr. Connell was the the "Go-To" computer expert for Carl Rove we won't know what testimony
(if any) he could have contributed to any inquiry as to what actually occurred in the way of
computer voting fraud, during the 2004 Presidential Election.

My condolences to his wife and 4 children for this terrible tragedy.

Election "Re-Engineering" Where and When, Do We Start? How About Wed. Nov. 5, 2008 ?

Thank You for reporting on this issue ! I just saw Dr. Miller's piece on "Democracy
Now" Television, and I noted down the name of Mike Connell of "Govtech Solutions".
I put Mr. Connell's name in the Google search engine which lead me to this page,
and I appreciate greatly, the chance to comment on this news story.
As an amateur historian, I am very aware of the venerable story of Voting Fraud
in the United States. "Vote Early and Often". "Vote for the People in the Graveyard, their names are still on the Rolls" etc. This is historical fact, but
the need to "Take On" the "New Form" of Election Tampering, on such a grand scale, has never been greater than NOW. Not just around the immediate time of any
election date, but after Nov. 2nd, 2008, there has to be a large effort by every
citizen of the United States, regardless of party affiliation, to work on a National Uniform Voting Act where OPEN,TRANSPARENT POLLING SOLUTIONS can be put
in place. It's ridiculous that private companies, with "Secret" software are paid 8 Billion Dollars under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA)of 2002, to do
this damage to our elections. I joined the Vertified Voting Email list of
Dr.David Dill, a computer expert at Stanford University, in 2003, and I called up
every Congressman's office in California, to support House Bill 1039 (?) calling for a paper trail of 2 printed receipts, one for the Voter,to verify the Voter's choices on the Ballot, and one that goes into the Ballot Box for a recount,if needed. The companies that build these machines build Bank ATMs which do give receipts, so you can cross check the amounts with your monthly Bank Statements
as ATMs are not perfect, this has been the simple solution to this problem.
It is not perfect, but it does INCREASE the percentage of accurate transactions.
Just before the 2004 Election President Carter was on the radio, reporting that
in many of the "Third World" countries he went to as an Election Observer,
he noted that the same Voting Machines by Diebold (et al) were in use,
AND GAVE OUT THE PAPER RECEIPTS ! Here, in the USA, we were told that this was technically IMPOSSIBLE, either in the construction phase of the machines at the factory, or as a retro-fit ! FANTASTIC !!!! I do know that a certain percentage of people in our society has a very low opinion of "OUR" collective intelligence, as we are supposed to only engage an issue in the "Public Memory" for a maximum of 2 weeks, but I think that is disproved, by the tenacity of the various Single Issue groups who, even as a minority of the population, have made a difference. I believe that VOTING is the biggest single issue in the United
States and has to be discussed by everyone now, and after this Election 2008.
Thank You !
Sean Folsom "Citizen"
