<description>We are dividing into a nation of a few embittered cynics who know and speak the truth on the one hand, and on the other a multitude of TV-benumbed ignoramuses who are indifferent about the truth.

Chris Floyd senses this--and so does Barack Obama.

Are there no effective alternatives but violent and no doubt futile revolution--or systemic collapse?

<description>Floyd strikes again. Living in Germany now. Looking from the outside in. To imagine a European country doing what Bush has done, and then, as conventional wisdom moved in the direction of naming things as they are, and then letting the blackguards roam free. Only in America. As Michael Moore pointed out in &quot;Canadian Bacon&quot; through the cynical Presidential Advisor: &quot;Mr. President, the American people will believe anything we tell them. Give me one week.&quot; (To convince the American public through a massive P.R. campaign, that Canada was as great a threat to national security as the Soviet Union had been.)
So, that there is no outrage by everyone in the United States makes it possible for Obama or anyone else to continue to play the power game. Do it better, don't change the structure, don't nail the crooks..... and forget about curtailing the fun of having the Executive Branch be the place this innocent majority places its faith in salvation. &quot;Just lousy policies&quot;.
The key remains: Keep enough chaos and uncertainty in the hearts of the governed and they remain governable. Gas prices going up. Food prices going up. Who wants more trouble. Shove it under the carpet. Hold onto what we got.
Who are we anyway....
And there's the rub. It's that thin layer of topsoil that is the depth of identity of us folks from USA. Without money and economic power, the wind blows it away and.... ugh, no features on a bald desert magma.
We're still eating food that comes from seeds that haven't been Monsanto'd here in Germany.
For now.
