Ok, is the outrage here because the Bushies have (once again) laid lie upon lie to cover up their motives for invading Iraq. This is hardly big news. Is it news that the administration invaded a foreign country simply to pursue its imperial agenda? Again, we already know this. If the issue is "exposing" a CIA cover, think again. All of us subjected to the tyranny of our criminal rulers should not lament the exposure of a spy. Further, it is clear that Mr. Wilson himself is a covert agent, having played that role in Iraq in the early 90s and elsewhere. This whole affair is a struggle between two sectors of the ruling class -- between the CIA "establishment" and the neo-cons -- and the rest of us have no stake in it.

It is worse than naive for any competent journalist in 2008 to maintain illusions in openness, democratic institutions, or accountability from this government, or the next. The wars rage on, hundreds are maimed and slaughtered every week. Our economy is quickly melting down. Our so-called democratic institutions sometimes work to elect a popular mayor in a small town, but national voting is completely compromised by "black box" manipulation and corporate money.

Rather than lament the latest lies out of the Bush White House and elsewhere, let's talk about what we are going to do about it? Vote them out? Please. Like Barrack will go against Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, et al who are bankrolling him. No, we need to mobilize against these monsters, without illusions that the "political process" will somehow fix it. The political process is the problem. - PF

Truth, honesty and integrity know no political allegiance.

Politics, however, RARELY knows truth honesty or integrity.

Keep that in mind Mr. Carlson, when nothing changes.

Right, left, republican, democrat....just flip sides of the exact same corporate owned coin. - Dan

Is It True?

Mr. Leopold has certainly uncovered a big conspiracy here! How many others will be uncovered before Barak takes office? Will it be possible then to put these monsters in prison? If nothing comes of this, then democracy is just crap, right? Right?

Clearly more work is needed to undo the terrible crimes of the Bush administration. Raising taxes is just the tip of the iceberg. In order to bring back affirmative action, the courts will have to be dealt with---either lots more judgeships that can be given to Democratic appointees, or the rapid impeachment of all those judges appointed by Bush. Whatever it takes, the left must be restored to power. - Don Carlson
