O.k. A former boy scout, I fell out with Hollywood writers after one too many of their coke-fueled fantasies from the 70s. Now a teacher, I consider the most of them adversarial, pumping a steady percentage of vulnerable students full of dope, disorder, and promiscuity. However, I never lost my love for game shows, particularly the Price Is Right. I will love Bob Barker till the day I die. Love Bob Barker, and I will bet you I know as many vocab words as author Chris, although I definitely can’t use them as well as he does. Damn that big wheel!

Lord praise the TRUE WRITERS, for it is they who know what to want, how to live, whom to condemn.
always gotta love the righteous when they call out the sinners. not. nope. no way. matter of a routine not whenever i see it, even if it is from TRUE WRITERS.

Living in Los Angeles, I can attest to the mind numbing work that is being peddled by so called writers. The doors of Hollywood are closed to all but a select few.
A friend of mine, dreamed of creating an intelligent tv show. He suffered rejection for 10 years. He gave up his goal, and wrote a novel. He found an agent in one day. Now he's proud to call himself a writer. - Kp from LA

Another writer I know -- a journalist formerly well published but now disenchanted with fame as a concept -- once told me that nobody who offered to pay for his work ever offered to pay him for anything but slop. My personal experience bears him out. Today I write to please myself. And if my stuff doesn't sell, I at least have the satisfaction of knowing it's the best stuff I can create.

It's always nice to hear from another cranky dissident. Thanks for a good article. - Jimmy Montague
