A revised look at what constitutes wealth

A most excellent article. I would go further than a new deal for the 21st century. I would argue that the very definition of wealth should be reevaluated. I believe that the current system has boxed the population into a Pavlovian mindset that cannot see wealth except in the form of paper and metal. True wealth is created by resources the planet provides combined with a mind that recognizes said resources as such and by virtue of mind's reson is able to harness the potential energy in those resouces and convert that energy into prurposeful work, usually in the form of life support or enhancment. To facilitate this transformation of the economy from high financy wizardry into scientific objectivity, we need to conduct surveys of the planet we have access to in order to quantify it. Our citizens need to be educated so they may participate in whatever wealth-generating enterprise suits thier strengths and tastes. With mass communications as they are this reevaluation is not impossible. The sooner we come to consensus on this the better. If we keep going as is, our independent lives will be appropriated by the faceless corporate masters currently running the nation into the ground. - a guest
