interesting article Mike. I've had a blog for almost two years too, my blog essentially shows how we can (just like FDR did) minimize the effects of this Depression we're now in (2/2/09)..

visit my blog.

I think it became an official 2nd depression in november or December, 2008

oh, and Joe L (comment above mine)

I agree we've managed to screw up a few generations. I have a plan for fixing that too! look here!

BE LOGIC AND REALISTIC

Well, I would like to make my comment clear. I am a US Citizen and I truely think that my generation has been screwed. We are called lazy, want for nothing, got to have the best of the best and so on. Well, you know, there is nothing wrong with that if you work hard for it. Spending the American dollar is what is suppose to keep the economy going. I find nothing wrong with this. What I see wrong with everything is the down right screwed up politicians from the so called baby boomer era that enjoys capitol hill golf course spending, driving those fancy escalades and lincolns, living in the finest golfing communities, and large spending accounts. This is what you call a waist of AMERICANS TAX DOLLARS. Our other problem is handing out the dam GREEN CARDS and WORK VISA'S to other country's so we can see our money leave US Soil. This is a bunch of bull crap. This is why we are in the shape that we are in. I am tired of people calling the new generation lazy. If we had the jobs that were around when the baby boomers where our age, then we would not be this way. No, they sent those to Mexico and India. Answer your phone some time when the dam telemarketer calls. Can you understand them? Of course not. They are making pennies. It is a lot cheaper that way. Do you think we had a say so to moving good jobs out of the united states. Hell no we didnt. We were busy being educated and being told that it is importent to have a dam high school and college education. Why bother right.... Come on people, be realistic here. Don't point the finger unless you look at the logic. People born in the early 70's till now, really had no say in what is happening today. I know there are people out there that will not agree, but that is okay. I also would like for you to thank about this one as well. We have american soldiers fighting for our country. They are only making 20 to 40 thousand a year. That is crap. They should be making more than washington, doctors, lawyers and local, state, and federal employees. The armed forces of the United states are under paid. Would you agree with this? Sure, they may have a great benefit package, but they should have a great pay scale as well. - joe L. from Kentucky

Relax guds and listen to the latest one:

While praying for the recession not to hit the American fan, the telephone rang. “Dr Bernanke,” a caller said with a Swedish accent, “I am honored to inform you that the Nobel Committee has decided to award you the Nobel Prize for physics. Congratulations.”
Elated but puzzled Bernanke said, “You meant to say I won the Nobel prize for Economics because you know I have a doctorate in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.”
“No, Sir. The Prize for economics is going to someone else,” the caller replied, “but the Physics prize is for you because you managed to turn the Dollar into shit.”

Overlooking current population

I think this looming disaster is going to be more magnified than the great depression...imagine mass hurricane katrina style looting on a national scale. Why you might ask? Back in the great depression alot of people were agrarian (farmers) and could take care of them selves...these days we have people who live off of fast food and have nothing in their pantries. If you dont have a gun, get one, learn how to use it. When this goes down, there will be more bad guys than good on the streets. - a guest

Yeah, economic collapses happen quickly and completely in empires. Eventually it ALWAYS happens. And technology and population might make this one a bit scarier than they usually are. But . . . even the end of America, even the end of western "civilization" doesn't mean the end of the world. We all know that right?

We humans are pretty full of ourselves, but the world will be just fine no matter what we do. Even if we united as a species - and TRIED our hardest to destroy the planet - careful planting of all our nukes in fault lines and delicate ecosystems, massive biological and chemical weapon dispersal all over the planet -- and etc. The planet would still keep spinning.

Most likely we could, with work, eliminate most or all humans, other mammals, and perhaps even most other major lifeforms. But at the very least, bacteria and microorganisms . . . and cockroaches would survive! And give it a few million years, and new things would be flapping, walking and swimming around as if we'd never been here.

We are arrogant. Not only do humans think OUR fate = the entire planets fate. We in America think that if/when the USA were to collapse it would be the "END OF THE WOOOOORRRRLLLLD"! I'm sure every previous empire has thought the same.

Ego.

The problem is this: Self Fulfilling Prophecy. The more psycho-brains who think that some bizarre superstitious/religious end times destiny is about to be fulfilled - the more they are likely through action and/or inaction to try to see it happen! Even if its a subconscious reaction. That is what is most scary about having nut jobs in political/financial power who's specific mythology has them WANTING to see the end of the world!

The sun shouldn't go red giant for a few billion more years, so barring some kind of freak comet strike or something. The earth should keep on spinning for a long time! - a guest

9-11 ACCOUNTABILITY - FRUSTRATION GROWS

We're all frustrated to the max that reasonable questions regarding 911 continue to be ignored by the controlled "mainstream" media, Congress and Alberto Gonzalez' corrupt, Department of Justice. Highly educated, experienced individuals like Dr. Steven Jones and aviation experts by the dozens have provided we the people with the truth: a commercial air liner did not bring down either of the twin towers and Flight 77 could not have made that approach 20' off the ground and straight into the Pentagon - especially by one or two hijackers who couldn't even fly a single engine puddle jumper. All of this data ignored and the authors branded Kool Aid drinkers. I have written many columns on 911. Millions of words have been written about that day by columnists, scientists, engineers, pilots and other professionals. The ones who insist on ignoring the facts, 100% credible research and reasonable questions are cowards like Eliot Spitzer, Pataki, Guiliani, members of Congress and high paid media mouth pieces like Bill O'Reilly, Rush, Hannity and others.

One thing for certain: a large number of participants at this conference belong to organizations that intend on taking this to the streets to build a big enough momentum that the 911 cover up can no longer be ignored by the political animals in Congress. They aren't afraid to get out there in the public's face to let them know there are serious questions regarding who was responsible for 911 and why we need a real investigation into the events of that day. Translated that means the ability of a grand jury or congressional committee to issue subpoenas and get to the real meat of the entire scenario including Enron, the anthrax attacks and Flight 93. The show down is coming and one can put money on the fact that Michael Chertoff, one of the most dangerous, evil men ever to head up any cabinet, is just lying in wait for the opportunity to unleash his dragoons on anyone who exercises their First Amendment rights.

AHMADINEJAD IS AGENT OF ZIONIST ? HE WORKS FOR ISR

Ahmadinejad, our secret agent in Iran
http://www.infowars.net http://www.infowars.com
http://www.rense.com http://www.alexansary.com
Alex Jones has shows on GCNLIVE.COM
ALEXANSARY has TV shows on channel 11 WA and Oregon
also he is on internet live 7pm thursdays.

Could it be that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is working for us? He is after all doing an excellent job for Israel. This week, while Teheran is divided between pragmatic elements calling to suspend Iran's nuclear program (or at least enter dialog with the US,) and militant elements who are not prepared to make any concessions – militant Ahmadinejad should definitely be supported.

It would be bad news for Israel if the Iranian nuclear program was halted now because international pressure would wane, a new American president would come to power and the smart Iranians would renew the project later on. Fortunately we have Ahmadinejad who insists that his country be isolated and trumpeted as the world's problem child.

Following is a list of Ahmadinejad achievements in less than two years:

Thanks to his defamatory words, he brought the Iranian nuclear issue to the top of the international agenda. If it hadn't been for him, who would have become involved in such a worrisome matter? It should be noted that Ahmadinejad's two predecessors, Presidents Rafsanjani and Khatami, developed nuclear capability but this didn't come to the world's attention. US, Britain and Russia must now ensure that Iran does not achieve nuclear arms.
Ahmadinejad has pitted the US against Iran, while virtually pushing it to take military action against his country. While another aircraft carrier is already stationed along the Iranian coast and the US military is being reinforced in Iraq, a military attack on Iran is no longer a far-fetched scenario.
The Iranian president has lost European support to such an extent that countries such as Germany, France and Britain are insisting on expanding sanctions on Iran. It is hard to comprehend but the British and the French are more at odds with Iran than with the US.
He united the whole world behind Israel due to his foolish denial of the Holocaust. He actually emboldened international support for Israel in wake of his desire to annihilate it. Thus he has managed to make Israel the world's underdog once again after many years. Once again we are David and not Goliath.
By his own doing, Ahmadinejad is building the great Sunni camp against the Shiites and Iran. He has created such immense fears and hostilities in countries such as Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States and even among some Palestinians, that this fear is now uniting them against Iran. This Sunni alliance has the potential to cooperate with Israel in the future.
Due to Iran's Shiite enthusiasm, the rift between Iran and Syria - its only ally - is also growing. The Syrians feel very uncomfortable with the Shiite ambition for hegemony, which could ultimately come at their expense.
The unofficial international economic embargo against Iran is expanding, and is likely to soon become official if the Security Council makes such a decision. This would result in further damage to the already unstable Iranian economy, which is entirely dependent on its oil.
Ahmadinejad is also increasingly losing Russian support. What transpired is not quite clear, but the Russians are currently delaying the shipment of nuclear materials to the plant they themselves helped build in Busher.
Internally Ahmadinejad has also achieved quite a lot by inciting entire sectors within Iran against him and the Ayatollah regime, while insisting on imposing a radical and conservative line on the entire country without understanding the direction of history, which is distancing itself from the conservative line.

Could Ahmadinejad actually endanger the existence of the Ayatollah regime? – If he succeeds, then agent Ahmadinejad would have done a great job! - a guest

BOYCOTT BOFA FOR HELPING ILLEGALS TO GET VISA AND WALLMART ?

As one-stop shopping becomes the new retail model, specialty stores can no longer compete with multi-national corporations. With employee and growth policies that are fiercely criticized by activist groups, corporations like Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire are setting industry standards.

However, emerging from the dismal landscape of the retail industry is an established and innovative competitor. Hidden behind skyrocketing stacks of bulk merchandise in warehouses across North America, Costco Corporation has been softly trying to introduce new industry standards since 1983.

The company is often lumped together with the rest of the pack when it comes to criticisms of big corporations, who stand accused of threatening local business, providing competitive prices at the cost of quality products and failing to treat their minimum wage workers with respect.

But as much as it burns to speak well of a wholesale-retail colossus, Costco may just be that friendly giant, swooping in to save countless helpless consumers from retail purgatory.

Fewer frills to share the bills
ADVERTISEMENT

When Washington CEO Magazine did a cover story on Wal-Mart's top competitor, they heaped praise on Costco CEO James Sinegal's business style, calling it a "window into the Costco corporate culture: direct, open, modest, and frugal. There's no pretension here."

Costco is said to operate under two cardinal rules: they never sell anything at a loss, and they never raise their profits on an item above 14 per cent.

They also take care of their employees. A cashier coming in off the street earns a starting hourly wage of $9.50. After four years, that same cashier will make up to $40,000 a year.

Through the mechanism of bulk shopping, and unadorned, warehouse-style stores, Costco is able to keep prices low and revenues high.

Professor Terrance Weatherbee, a business professor at Acadia University, explains that by dispensing with many of the costs associated with classic retail inventory practices, Costco is able to re-direct cash flow to employees, and make fairer deals with suppliers. Cheap floor displays, decreased individual packaging and bulk supplies are what allow Costco to remain competitive and redistribute its wealth to things like employee development, which it maintains as a high priority within the corporation. - a guest

Is this the long-awaited U.S. stock market correction, or is there more pain to come?

Market Snapshot February 27, 2007, 8:48AM EST text size: TT
China Slump Fuels Wall St. Meltdown
The Dow slumped over 500 points at one point before staging a partial recovery. All eyes are on the Asian trading session Wednesday
by Marc Hogan

Is this the long-awaited U.S. stock market correction, or is there more pain to come? Stocks were sharply, broadly lower in heavy trading Tuesday, with major U.S. stock indexes each down over 3%. Bonds soared as investors fled stocks for the less risky confines of the Treasury market.

What sparked the sell-off? A plunge in China's stock exchange rippled across global markets, spurring big declines in bourses worldwide. A disappointing report on U.S. durable goods orders fanned concerns about a slowing economy.

When the dust settled after a session marked by extremely heavy trading volume, the Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 416.02 points, or 3.3%, to 12,216.24, after being down by more than 500 points at one juncture. Each of the 30 member stocks posted losses, with heavy hitters Disney (DIS) and General Motors (GM) each losing over 5%.

The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 50.33 points, or 3.47%, to 1,399.04. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite was the biggest percentage loser on the day, slumping 96.65 points, or 3.86%, to 2,407.87.

Losses were accompanied by an enormous jump

in volume on the NYSE and Nasdaq Composite indexes, notes S&P MarketScope, signaling institutions were likely liquidating long positions.

I said that a number of years ago and now, it's more relevant than ever.

I live in Prague, C.R. I've been here for almost five years now and I fully realize what a Communist system can do to a people (it's one of the reasons I came, to see the effects for myself). When your free thought is smashed out of you, when your imagination is whittled away in exchange for collective-formula processes, it's a sad state to be in (think outside of the box? HA!). I know, because I see it on the faces of most Czech citizens every day. And you may think that it would wash itself away after 15 years of 'freedom' but it hasn't and it would take generations, if they're given the chance.

I love my country (America) so much and I have had to put up with a lot, here, for being an American. However, I am very proud of what my country has taught me.. Or maybe it wasn't my country, maybe it was my mom, or my friends. Or maybe what I have learned is a result of MY inclination for moving forward, for curiosities realized, for lessons learned and applied?

Doesn't seem to matter much now. I've chosen my digs and, at least for now, Europe is where I'll stay.

I'd like to come home to California, just one more time, for Christmas. That's be nice, I remember the smell of the kitchen the most..

If I came, it would probably have to be the next one, though I really don't see it happening. Especially after the way I was treated by security on my last visit home..

What happened to our country? I mean, I know what happened and how it happened, but it's just so sick. The mass of the society, the media, 'entertainment', consumerism, the whole thing is so warped, it's hard to get your head around. But not impossible, we can't ever loose the ability to think critically.. Sadly, most have, or they certainly were never taught that (Thanks Mom.).

Note: There's an elephant in your room, he's holding a cattle-prod and he wants to sit with you, on your sofa. He there to make sure you're sucking down the worst that America has to offer via your over-sized tube. Don't offer him your peanuts, he may want to stick around a while..

Move towards the light, always. Andrew

Establishment Media Blacklists Nichols' OKC Revelations

Establishment Media Blacklists Nichols' OKC Revelations
Bomb Nichols helped McVeigh build unsophisticated, half size of device described by feds, mainstream press ignores testimony, obsesses instead about Britney Spears shaving her head

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones
Prison Planet
Monday, February 26, 2007

Astounding revelations on behalf of Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols, including Timothy McVeigh's connection to government provocateurs and the fact that the bomb he helped McVeigh build was completely different to the one described by official accounts, have been uniformly ignored by the corporate media as the story enters its sixth day.

The magnitude of the allegations made by Nichols in his declaration have been deliberately undermined by the all but complete ignorance of the mainstream media to report on them. Besides a smattering of initial reports about Nichols fingering an FBI agent as having directed McVeigh in the bombing, the corporate media have completely blacklisted the issue despite the Internet release of Nichols' declaration in PDF format by this website on Friday, courtesy of Attorney Jesse Trentadue.

If Osama bin Laden or one of the other alleged masterminds behind 9/11 publicly accused Dick Cheney as having helped facilitate 9/11, would the media be interested? Why is press coverage so sparse when this testimony fundamentally contradicts the official version of a major chapter in American history? The question answers itself - the establishment is complicit in burying these revelations while Americans are bombarded with 24/7 drivel about Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears shaving her head.

The more attention this story receives, the heavier the push will be for Nichols to give video testimony - a development that would likely trigger calls for a completely fresh investigation of the event. Such a scenario would consequently discredit the the official conspiracy theory behind 9/11 which is why the establishment is so eager to see this story disappear.

"Tune your antenna to the best dial you have learned to tune into and live without fear." Excellent advice from the above poster. I implore all who read this to do the same. Panic, chaos is exactly what the power elite want to see manifested. Fear not. Follow your inner voice. Ignore the reality the power elite want to impose. We have the power to crush them like the worms that they are. These spiritually retarded creatures are forcing us to look inside ourselves- to find ourselves! This is their 'last stand', they have nothing to lose. What they want to impose is not even real! They want us to live fear- OF THEM. Fear not! - a guest

Conclusion

It’s understandable that many Americans deeply resist the scenario I have just described. Most have a difficult time wrapping their mind around something so big, so shocking, and so evil. To think that a group within our own government would do this to us is almost incomprehensible. But the most frightening thing of all is that it’s not only possible, it’s probable. Adolf Hitler well understood and was perfectly willing to exploit this Achilles heal of society. In Mein Kampf he wrote that “the broad mass of a nation....will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one.”[lxix] How strange that a psychopath like Hitler saw so deeply into human nature. Are we not facing a similar phenomenon today in America? None of our countrymen were fooled by Bill Clinton’s trivial lie that he did not inhale a marijuana cigarette, or his denial of sex with Monica Lewinsky. Yet, most of us internalized a vastly bigger lie, without a second thought, the no less transparent 9/11 narrative. Human psychology has changed little. Must history now also repeat and disgorge itself upon us, indeed, on an even greater scale? If Americans fail to confront the truth about 9/11, what is to prevent it?

Our nation and the world will never be secure until the conspirators who staged the 9/11 attack are brought to justice. We must therefore insist that the Democratically controlled Congress immediately launch a new and truly independent 9/11 investigation, one that is non-partisan, adequately funded, and empowered with the authority to subpoena witnesses and evidence. The pentagon security videos and the black boxes, currently being withheld, may hold the answers.

If we have the courage to face the fact that our nation has descended into a swamp of corruption and evil, perhaps we can still salvage the future for ourselves and our children. We should draw strength from the knowledge that the 9/11 nightmare, bad as it was, might have been even worse. So long as freedom lives we can choose to be masters of our fate. In the coming days, let us choose well.
